Laura Silverman began piano studies at the age of 4 in Nashville, Tennessee. She won her first concerto competition in high school, playing Liszt E flat Concerto for Piano with the Nashville Symphony under Thor Johnson.
She went on for further study with Vitya Vronsky Babin at The Cleveland Institute of Music where she received both the B.M. and M.M. degrees. Additional studies were with Paul Schenly and Grant Johannesen and with John Wustman in vocal coaching and accompanying.
While at CIM, Ms. Silverman twice won the concerto competition playing Beethoven Concerto No. 3 in c minor and Prokofiev Concerto No. 3.
She won 4th prize in The Robert Casadesus International Piano Competition (now The Cleveland Piano Competition) and was also recipient of a prize in the J.S. Bach International Piano Competition in Washington, D.C.
